  • FTNI Validates Compliance with the PCI DSS

CHICAGO and OMAHA, NE (February 16, 2010) – Financial Transmission Network, Inc. (FTNI), a leading provider of electronic payment technology solutions, has been validated compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Trustwave, the leading provider of PCI DSS compliance management solutions, performed the validation.

PCI DSS is the payment card industry security requirement for entities that store, process or transmit cardholder data, and has been endorsed by all the major card brands – Visa Inc., MasterCard Worldwide, Discover Network, American Express and JCB.

As a payment services provider, FTNI had to demonstrate compliance by thoroughly documenting its physical access controls, IT environment and information security policies and procedures. To maintain their compliance, FTNI has enrolled in Trustwave’s on-demand compliance management solution, TrustKeeper® to access the necessary tools to support on-going compliance such as quarterly network vulnerability scans. Additionally, FTNI passed multiple network penetration tests to ensure proper security controls were in place to protect its organization from attack by data thieves hoping to obtain confidential data.

“We found it important to have an independent data security firm assess our current security posture and provide further guidance about protecting our network,” says Kurt M. Matis, President and CEO at FTNI. “Trustwave’s proprietary technology and security expertise helped us secure our organization, protect our customer’s card data, as well as maintain our compliance with the PCI DSS.”

“FTNI implemented proper security controls to ensure the organization validated and maintained its compliance with the PCI DSS,” says Robert J. McCullen, chairman and CEO of Trustwave. “Through our penetration testing, we helped FTNI mitigate risks associated with a variety of internal and external attacks, further securing their organization.”
